Description

Formerly a citrus estate, Wa Samaki Ecosystems focuses on Permaculture restoration while producing cut flowers, tropical fish and indigenous food crops. Because of this, a once lifeless estate has turned into a haven for wildlife over the years.

When the habitat was restored an array of wildlife returned, which now call here their safe and permanent home. At the estate you can spot a variety of birds, invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles and mammals.

Photographer, naturalist and conservationist Zakariyya Ali will lead us in searching out these creatures and introduce us to the art and skill of creating beautiful photographs of these creatures in a low impact and ethical manner that minimizes stress on the animal.

All levels of photographers are welcomed!

Photo Safari includes:

  • Expert  guides

  • Secure parking

  • Entrance fee

  • Educational photography night tour

  • It is ideal to reach on location a few minutes before the tour begins to discuss safety and to familiarize yourself with the environment.

  • Before the tour, an orientation  talk will be given, where you learn a little about the estate and get an insight on what to expect throughout the tour.

  • The tour starts at 7:00pm (sunset) and ends at 10:00 pm.

  • When participants arrive at the location,  all vehicles would be parked at the front of the property

  • Participants would then walk on relatively flat and sometimes muddy terrain and through the forest for approximately 3 hours actively searching for wildlife.

  • Once an animal is spotted, your guide(s) would give you background information about said animal and answer any questions you may have.

  • Your guide(s) will allow you to only handle specific animals for a brief moment as to not stress the animal.

  • NO ANIMAL CAN BE HANDLED WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION FROM YOUR GUIDE.

  • When the tour ends, participants along with their guide(s) would head back to the lounge area,  have a brief discussion about what was spotted and depart hopefully with increased knowledge and a greater appreciation for T&Ts wildlife.
