T&T Annual Photography Competition 2019

The T&T Annual Photographic competition is open to photographers of all ages and all skill levels; professional, hobbyists and amateurs who are Trinidad and Tobago nationals or who live in Trinidad and Tobago.

Our goal with the competition is twofold.

We believe healthy competition among photographers can only serve to push the creative limits of all participants. By eliminating the Open category and defining specific entry categories we challenge photographers to create photographs that are crafted towards a specific theme or subject such as landscape or portrait. We have re-introduced our Street and Photojournalism category as we believe in the importance of documenting the life and times of Trinidad & Tobago. This competition is the only one of its kind in Trinidad and Tobago. This year marks our 4th consecutive hosting and we expect the quality of submission to be even more phenomenal than previous years.

We also believe that the competition helps to bring national awareness to the craft and profession of photography. While photography plays a critical role in almost every aspect of our daily visual lives, it still has not positioned itself as an established and respected creative outlet. There is Fashion Week and Restaurant Week, there is the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival and the European Film Festival but there is no Photography Week or Photography Festival. We see this competition as one of the steps in creating a forum for the advancement of photography at the community level and a catalyst for a greater national conversation on photography.

We look forward to your entries and wish all participants good luck!

Submit your images into one of our categories for a chance to win. Adults and under 18’s will be judged separately.

The seven adult categories are:

  1. Abstract and Digital Art Photography – for images that have been digitally altered or manipulated in significant ways. Everything goes in this category, there are no guidelines.
  2. People & Portraits – human and non-human portraits are welcome.
  3. Landscape – urban, rural or jungle, any type of outdoor landscape.
  4. Wedding – professional or amateur, all images of weddings in any form.
  5. Nature – anything natural or relating to the natural world.
  6. Sport – professional or amateur, all images relating to sport in any form.
  7. Street & Photojournalism – Candid documentary photography in public places or at public events. These should not be staged images.

The five Under-18 categories are:
